What kind of church?

What kind of church?

If something has got you thinking about God, life and purpose or you’re new to the area and looking for a church, you’ve probably got some questions. Whatever your background, walking into a church for the first time can be a nerve-wracking experience. Will I be welcomed? What will happen? How does it all work?

We are convinced that the Grace of God is the news every human heart is longing for. That, because of his great love for us, God has taken the decisive step towards humanity. Grace says that in Jesus we are more accepted than we could ever dare imagine! Grace says that our worst moments don’t change God’s mind about us and that our worst moments can be changed by His love and power. Experiencing and understanding Grace causes us to celebrate and the love we’ve received overflows to other people.

At Hope that’s what we want everyone who walks through the door to experience - joy as we celebrate Jesus and a warm, loving welcome from people who have found the loving acceptance of God.

Our Values

Our Values

The foundation of our values is the unshakeable belief that we are called to know God as Father in a deep and life-changing way. His loving care and provision for us mean our acceptance, significance and security can be rooted unshakeably in who He is. From this flow five cultural values.

Our Story

Our Story

In 2010, Hope Church began with a handful of people, from different walks of life, gathering and praying for many in Harrogate to encounter Jesus and choose to follow Him.

Today, we are a church family that passionately loves God, follows the way of Jesus, and are empowered by the Spirit to participate in the big story of His love transforming the world.

Over the years we’ve grown in number and gathered in all sorts of places: homes, community centres, coffee shops, hotels and schools. People have joined Hope from across Harrogate, and from the surrounding towns and villages. Our aim is to see many more churches birthed in these places in the years to come.

Though Yorkshire is indeed God’s County, hope is not confined by borders. God’s church is global. In 2019 we sent a small team from Hope to pioneer a new church in North Vancouver, Canada. Through our wider family, ChristCentral Churches, Hope connects with and supports churches across Europe, the Americas and Africa. In recent years we’ve had the joy of pioneering sustainable employment projects through churches in Zambia and Kenya. We pray that we’ll have the privilege of seeing Jesus transform many more lives, at home and abroad, in the years to come.

ChristCentral Churches

ChristCentral

Hope enjoys being part of a wider network called ChristCentral Churches – which works together under the apostolic leadership of Jeremy Simpkins and his team.

Our connections across the UK and around the world through ChristCentral are key in keeping the big picture of God’s purposes central in our church life.

ChristCentral is itself part of a bigger family of churches called Newfrontiers.
