Giving

blue-pound-newWe want to follow the example of Jesus in all areas of our lives. Jesus invested everything as he laid down his life for the church. In the same way we want to invest what we have in order to build and strengthen the church – so that it can bless the world as God intends!

For many of us this means investing our time in different areas of church life. It also means investing our finances.

We give simply because Jesus calls us to give. It’s one of the unique joys of being a Christian and being committed to a local church. That we join with God in giving generously from all that he has given us.

3. On Sundays

You can give at any of our Sunday meetings. Just place your cheque or cash in one of the giving envelopes and then into the offering baskets when they come around during the meeting.

Where does your giving go?

We are dependent on giving from members of Hope to finance the vision of the Church.

Areas of spending for Hope include:

  • Tithe: This is the 10% we give from our income aimed towards blessing other Kingdom work.

  • Local Mission: This includes events and projects we run in the local community: Alpha, The Parenting Course,  CAP Courses, Reflect, Lunch time clubs at local schools and various outreach events.

  • Overseas Mission: We have supported Church planting in Norway and Cambodia as well as many other international works amongst the poor.  This will only increase!

  • Resource Base: This encompasses everything that enables the church to function and carry out it’s call to reach, equip and send people. Amongst many things it includes office administration, venue hire, Hope Kids  and ongoing discipleship etc.

  • Staff Team: Of course, supporting local, overseas mission and growing a healthy resource base  requires  a team of dedicated workers.  As such, we are blessed to have a great staff team.

Our Operating Principles

Faith: We aim to rely on God’s provision as a Church and not live under a ‘spirit of poverty’ . We will attempt big things!

Biblical: We will steward the resources God gives us using biblical wisdom.

Spirit Led: We want to be obedient to the Holy Spirit and his promptings—not simply maintaining the status quo.

Simple:  low control and high accountability systems. Trustees take on legal responsibility for finances. Elders direct the affairs of the Church in line with what God is saying. .

Common Good: Spending needs to be for the good of the Church as a whole.

Clear: Clarity for the whole Church in how we handle the  finances of the Church.
